How to disable News & Interests on Windows 10 taskbar

You may have noticed recently there is a News & Interests icon showing up on the bottom right of you screen in the taskbar. It is a great idea by Microsoft, however, NOT all people may share those sentiments. It shows the temperature in your area and gives news updates and can be customized to give you information based on your interests.

If you click on the ‘News & Updates’ widget it opens further and shows you all the information that you are subscribed too. The different news sources are picked for you by default but you can adjust them.

Manage the News & Interests

To change your interests click on manage interests in the top right of the widget as shown in the picture above.

From there you can change what your sources for news should be. The menu below shows where you can adjust the settings from.

Steps to Disable it

To remove the widget from showing up in the taskbar, right click the weather icon and go to News and interests -> Turn off

This will remove the option and you will not have to concern yourself with it.
